THE CHANDELIER PROJECT - PITTI PALACE, FLORENCE, ITALY
My work in the interior design industry and my passion for art and architecture gave me an intense appreciation for the way lighting makes or breaks an environment. The lighting of chandeliers was particularly interesting and when I saw for the first time, the chandeliers of Pitti Palace, I was captivated by the Renaissance craftsmanship, the majesty and grace of these illuminating dangling pieces of artisanal craftsmanship, I knew instinctively, I had to take a series of photos of them to review from a distance, their enduring elegance, historical value, and regal allure. The masterful work involved in creating these pieces of art and art history, truly deserve their lights to be turned on.

Artisanal chandeliers, candlesticks and appliques combine the Medici Period of techniques of working with prestigious materials: the crystals are hand-grounded while the bronzes are first melted in the ground or with the ancient technique of lost wax and then chiseled. The lustre, luminous play with exterior and interior light is fascinating and alluring.
